Minimum of filing documents in Yemen

For obtainment of the filing date the Yemeni trademark application should contain:

ü certificate of incorporation or extract from the commercial register showing applicant's name, address and objectives, appropriately legalized up to the Consulate of Yemen;

ü representations of the trademark;

ü list of goods and services.

Requirements to the Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Yemeni Consulate must be submitted within one month from the filing date a trademark application.

Priority document

The certified copy of the priority document must be submitted within 6 months from the date of priority. A translation into Arabic is required.

Validity term

Trademark in Yemen is valid for 10 years from the date of filing.

Opposition period

Trademark in Yemen may be opposed within 3 months from the publication of a trademark application.

Renewal

Trademark in Yemen may be renewed an unlimited number of times for 10 years. It may be also renewed after 12 months from the due renewal date. The POA is not required.

Use requirement

The trademark in Yemen may be a subject of cancellation if it has not been used within the continuous period of 5 years from registration.
